Are you an early riser or daytime adventurer? To WAM!, an eco-tourism adventures company, it doesn’t matter. They have adventure tours to suit everyone, their body clocks and the season! They are a progressive, sustainably conscious company operating with sub-zero waste, which means your adventure is doing more good than harm for our environment.

One of the best ways to see Melbourne and the Mornington peninsula is to immerse yourself in nature. You can do precisely this with Wild Adventures Melbourne, otherwise known as WAM! They offer a range of eco-tourism adventures based on the season, and all tours will get you adventurously active whilst seeing amazing sights & scenery.
Wonga Biking Trails to Ales
Discover the natural wonders of Arthurs Seat (known as Wonga to the Boon Wurrung people), Mornington Peninsula’s highest viewpoint from the seat of a mountain bike!
This self-paced tour will have you cruising past the iconic 19th-century lighthouse at McCrae beach and the beach boxes by the foreshore before taking to the enthralling mountain bike trails in Arthurs Seat. Next (along with your bike), you will take to the skies on the Arthurs Seat Eagle gondola to take in the breathtaking panoramic views over the coastline. Once at the top, ride thrilling nature trails through native forests down to a wonderful labyrinth of craft distilleries and breweries where you have a choice of six craft venues to choose from for tasting paddles
Sunrise Wildlife eco-tourism Adventure
This tour is not too far from Melbourne’s CBD, but far enough that you can hear the birds’ early morning call and see the Aussie bush. As you jump on a mountain bike to gently ride along riverside trails, your guide will suggest keeping your eyes peeled for wombats and kangaroos. After the leisurely ride and a stop for Melbourne coffee, you will receive all the necessary instructions on standup paddle boarding to cruise along the calm and serene river. After working up an appetite, Power Plant, a sustainable cafe will have a table waiting for you where you can enjoy a classic Melbourne brekkie. Before heading back to the CBD, WAM! will point out nearby Aboriginal sites, and some more incredible Aussie wildlife. This tour runs October – April.

Peninsula Paddle, Pinot & Pools
This full-day eco-tourism adventure will have you taking early morning photos of Mornington Peninsula’s famously bright bathing boxes before getting onto the water on your very own standup paddleboard. Keep your eyes peeled for the local pod of dolphins that often show their friendly faces. Once back on dry land, you will take a drive along the coast road overlooking Port Philip Bay before lunching on a gourmet picnic at Trofeo Estate. This winery focuses on incorporating organic practices. You will spend the afternoon hiking through coastal nature trails to the breathtaking Bushranger’s Bay (named after two escaped Australian convicts) before unwinding after your action-packed day at The Peninsula Hot Springs. This tour runs October – April.

Hot Springs, Hikes & Humpbacks
This tour is the perfect blend of active relaxation for the winter months. Mornington Peninsula has some of the world’s best thermal hot springs and on this tour, you can spend a relaxed morning bathing in these pools, before joining a hot springs yoga class. Your journey continues with a bushwalk along with the balcony of the southern ocean, which is one of the best spots to see whales making their annual migration. Finally, at a viewpoint, the group will stop for an Indigenous-inspired packed brunch. This tour runs June to October.
Advanced Eco-Tourism Adventures
It was critical for WAM!’s founder, Nic Cooper, that the foundations of his company were designed to go beyond sustainability into regenerative tourism practices. As a result, WAM has successfully achieved a world-leading certification by demonstrating best practices in eco-tourism.
On each tour, the areas visited are left cleaner than when the group arrive as the guide carries portable bins for any litter found in the ocean, waterways or parks. WAM! also supports local reforestation projects by offsetting all their business and CO2 emissions.
So next time you are after an adventure that connects you with nature, embark on a tour with Wild Adventures Melbourne, where every option is adventurous and active and supports the environment and local community all at the same time.
