Sulis offers a range of beauty experiences from a simple haircut to a full day spa experience. However, this salon is different to most, as it has a serious commitment to sustainability.

When you book into the hair salon you will get to talk to your stylist about your hair desires before they pamper you with head and shoulder massage and of course your colour, cut and style. The spa at Sulis offers facials, massages, manicures and pedicures using the signature Aveda’s natural beauty products. You will also find Aveda’s products used by the makeup artists at Sulis which will give you a beautiful natural glow.

No matter which experience you book, you will have an expert team listen to you and help you to achieve your beauty goals. When you’re finished you will be glowing inside and out, wanting to flaunt your beauty to the world.
Minimising landfill
However, have you ever thought about the environmental costs of beauty salons? Well at Sulis, you can sit back and relax knowing they have taken numerous sustainability actions to help minimise landfill waste and reduce their carbon footprint. One of the actions taken is recycling hair clippings which is used as stuffing for ultra-absorbent hair booms used to soak up oils spills. Ponytails are also donated to charities that transform them into wigs for people that suffer from hair loss due to cancer or disease.
All leftover metal such as foils, razor blades, containers and tubes are sold for scrap metal and the money is donated to the Australian charity OzHarvest who diverts food away from landfill and donates it to the needy. Plastic is also upcycled into electric cable covers and outdoor furniture. Paper and cardboard are recycled by Loumbos Recycling and transformed into new paper products. These measures ensure landfill is minimised.

Reducing their carbon footprint
One of the hardest things for a salon to deal with is chemicals. At Sulis, chemical such as hair colour, extension solutions and other chemicals undergo a neutralising process where the water is extracted and used in construction and roadworks. Sulis has also chosen to partner with Aveda who creates nontoxic, cruelty-free, sustainable beauty products. All of Aveda’s products are produced by sustainable energy, contain natural ingredients and are bottled in 100% recycled PET plastics. Natural, nontoxic paint is also used on the walls. This choice means Sulis has a smaller carbon footprint and also means there are no harsh chemical smells.
Scattered around the salon you will find numerous pot plants which also helps produce fresh oxygen. Sulis salon has also chosen to partner with the sustainable energy producer, Enova Energy, where all the energy produced is from renewable sources. Come and relax at Sulis if you’re seeking the ultimate sustainable pampering session.
