St Agni: a sustainable luxury fashion brand that cherishes handmade processes with timeless design

Found in the small beach town of Byron Bay, St. Agni is a luxury lifestyle brand that champions a “ less is more” philosophy and delivers handmade sustainable pieces for any occasion.

Slow fashion with a Japanese influence

Founders, Lara & Matt Fells, started the brand in 2014, originally making hand-crafted footwear. Today they have created a minimal, functional and refined fashion brand, including everything from sandals to skirts, to knitwear! Here, ‘slowness’ is appreciated as a strength rather than a weakness, and inspiration is often taken from architecture and art.

Their most recent collection, UKIYO which translates to floating, fleeing or a transient world, in Japanese, explores the relationship between function and shape and takes cues from Japanese workwear.

The collection was inspired by the sculptures of American-Japanese artist, Isamu Noguchi, drawing inspiration specifically from the circular shapes in Noguchi’s lanterns, creating “an ode to the timeless appeal of organic forms.”

Raw silk blazers, belted trousers, and stylish workwear jackets, the collection is both structural and easy to wear, in their signature palette of whites, creams beige and black, becoming the perfect staple items for any wardrobe.

Simplicity and sustainability

Crafted entirely of natural fibres such as hemp, bamboo, raw silk and linen, the latest collection reflects St. Agni’s commitment to sustainable practices with simplicity and style.

Made of biodegradable fabrics, and only using materials that are gentle on the environment – St. Agni makes a strong effort to avoid synthetic fabrics, using only recycled synthetic fabrics and fibres when needed. This collection seeks to harmonise the feminine and masculine, creating versatile pieces that can be worn with anything and that screams Australian summer.

Style & sustainability is the forefront of St. Agni. They pride themselves on high quality pieces and always work with the best and most sustainable fabrics possible. They value fair treatment of their workers, with full supply chain transparency & traceability. Whilst also working directly with artisans in Indonesia & India to honour the tradition of craftsmanship.

Their pieces are timeless, conscious and designed to last. The ideal purchase for those looking to shop more responsibly, and shop less!

St. Agni has two inviting stores in Byron Bay & Brisbane, Australia. Designed just as the clothing is; intentionally and sophisticated with beautiful natural & earthy textures. Clothes can be found online at Harvey Nichols, Bloomingdales and Browns & Net-a-porter, to name a few.
