Elemen: healthy eco-friendly dining in Singapore

Recipient of the Best Asian Restaurant Chain Award by Asian Masters/ Epicurean Star in 2019 and Singapore Top Restaurant Award by Wine & Dine in 2017 and 2018, Elemen delivers a modern interpretation of sustainable vegetarian cuisine.

For conscious eaters

Recently opening its fourth location on the island, Elemen is planning several more outlets in Singapore and expansion overseas in the near future. The restaurants are popular among the new demographic of Singaporeans who are increasingly conscious about their food choices. Even omnivores love this forward-thinking, healthy sustainable chain—two-thirds of their customers are not vegetarians.

Each one of Elemen restaurants is everything you would expect from an eco-friendly dining spot. Think zen-ambiance and comfortable seating among light wood-furnishings and lush greenery. Natural elements reflect the brand’s dedication to fostering the well-being of the customers. Through their motto “love self, love earth”, they encourage conscious eating and at the same time promote a harmonious and sustainable environment.

A taste of the menu

The menu is brimming with natural, meatless dishes, made to nourish and heal the body and mind. The team makes a point of sourcing the freshest raw ingredients such as quinoa, truffle, maca root, and the star of Chinese health food, peach gum. There is no place for processed food or mock meat. Meal preparation is minimal and uncomplicated, adding only a light touch of seasoning to retain the nutrients and bring out the original taste of the produce. The chain caters to diners with dietary restrictions too. Both vegan options and dishes containing nuts, eggs, and dairy are clearly marked on the menu.

Elemen specializes in vegetarian fusion cuisine resulting from Western and Chinese influences. Plates are sophisticated, beautiful, and delicious. Healthy options include the double-boiled maca soup made with Peruvian ginseng, known for its energizing properties and tempura tofu with spicy shiitake purple rice rolls, to name but a few.

Mushroom risotto with black truffle is elevated with unexpected ingredients and preparation techniques. Instead of the familiar Italian-style creamy dish, risotto at Elemen is fried Chinese-wok style and consists of a tasty combination of wild rice, short-grain rice, and crispy rice. Wild mushroom and white truffle pizza is another delight, with its complex flavors and paper-thin crust worthy of most respectful Italian pizzerias.

The menu at Elemen has no shortage of natural drinks either. Think fresh watermelon and coconut juice, iced lychee green tea, and soothing longan fruit and red date tea. Health-conscious diners can also head to the Great World City outlet for high tea and indulge in a delectable array of light canapés, savory bites, and pastries. All this is paired with fragrant old-school Malaysian coffee and tea, kopi susu and teh susu.

A wholesome oasis of delicious all-natural vegetarian fare, Elemen is without a doubt one of the best examples of the new wave of innovative sustainable dining in Singapore that is here to stay.
