The store boasts a minimalist exterior that, while visually appealing, doesn’t do justice to the greatness that lies inside. The Social Space hosts a multitude of services all under one roof and has become a prevalent platform for conscious living and sustainability in the country.

A trendy one-stop-shop
Most known for its Bali-inspired café, The Social Space serves of artisanal teas and coffees, all of which are ethically sourced. Patrons can indulge in decadent desserts, as well as hearty and healthy meals. Keeping with the sustainable theme, all food and drinks in the café are served in ceramic mugs and bowls made by a local ceramic enterprise that works closely with people with special needs.
The Social Space also houses an eco-boutique that showcases varied products from local and regional sustainable businesses and brands. Selling everything from metal straws to jewellery, all items in the Space’s retail section has been hand-picked and personally curated by the owners, Cheryl Ou and Daniel Yeow. Their second location boasts a bigger retail area and sells even more items that provide all the essential gear to start a zero-waste life.
They also have a section called ‘The Refillery’, where customers can bring in their own containers and fill up on cleaning supplies and soaps. They provide refills for surface cleaners, dishwashing liquid, shampoos and so much more. All of their products are toxic-free and reasonably priced.

And, as if it doesn’t get any better, the Space also has a florist section. Manned by local florist studio, Lush Woods, you can purchase some of the most beautifully arranged bouquet of both dried and fresh flowers. As for their in-house nail parlour, appropriately called ‘The Nail Social’, it only uses nail polishes that are non-toxic, cruelty-free and eco-friendly. Considered Singapore’s first socially conscious nail salon, The Nail Social provides employment to marginalized women and helps them on their journey to self-sufficiency. In fact, The Nail Social came before the café and retail space, first opening in 2015.
A shared respect for the environment
With so many concepts under one roof, there still seems to be an easy and seamless blend between all of them. A good business in every sense of the word, The Social Space is a social enterprise that puts people and the environment right in the frontlines.
